Surgery Scheduler
American Pain and Wellness American Pain and Wellness Colleyville, TX Colleyville, TX Full-time Full-time $18 - $20 an hour $18 - $20 an hour 4 days ago 4 days ago 4 days ago The Surgery Scheduler will act as a liaison between the patients, physicians, and hospital staff to help guide the patients through the multiple steps of scheduling their surgeries Knowledge of medical scheduling procedures and terminology Requests pre-operative clearance with cardiology office when needed.
Communicate with patients regarding their scheduled surgeries, providing necessary instructions and answering any questions they may have Schedule the surgeries, based on the physician's requests and the patient's needs, with the hospital that is qualified to meet the needs of that patient's diagnosis and procedure Enters surgery appointments and post-op appointments in the scheduling system Schedules surgeries with the facility Counsel patients on all out-patient surgical instructions Reviews insurance benefits on surgery patients and works up cost estimate.
Collect the copays, payments, and the co-insurances due from the patients for all their surgeries Communicates and provides billing team all necessary documentation for billing of procedures Flexibility to adapt to changing schedules and patient needs Qualifications - High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or certification in medical office administration is a plus - Previous experience in a healthcare setting, preferably as a surgery scheduler or in a similar role - Strong administrative skills with attention to detail and accuracy - Excellent customer service and communication skills, both written and verbal - Knowledge of medical terminology and surgical procedures - Familiarity with electronic medical record systems, such as Nextgen a plus - Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment Please note that this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties, or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
