Job Description


We are looking for a talented Medical Assistant to join our fast paced pulmonology practice. Join us and demonstrate your skills and abilities by doing what you do best! In the role of Medical Assistant you will facilitate patient continuity of care with the healthcare team. This position will work closely with the healthcare delivery team by attending to patients upon check in/out, coordinating and organizing appointments, billing, payments, medical records and other documentation. The perfect candidate must be a team player, highly motivated and demonstrate a positive attitude.




The Medical Assistant, under the supervision of the Operations Management Team, is responsible for assisting in the delivery of health care and patient care management.



  • Answer incoming calls and dispatch to appropriate personnel

  • Take messages: pull charts and route to appropriate physician

  • Page calls to physicians when necessary

  • Check patients in/out

  • Print demographic update sheet on all scheduled patients

  • Verify patient information is up to date

  • Collect co-payment

  • General office duties

  • Forward pre-certification requests to Back Office Medical Assistant

  • Patient care: including vital signs and medication updates

  • Prepares, cleans and maintains exam and treatment rooms as requested

  • Prepare laundry for pickup

  • Coordinate with patient to schedule procedures and tests at appropriate facilities

  • Other duties as assigned


  • Knowledge of medical practice and care

  • Knowledge of examination, diagnostic and treatment room procedures

  • Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments

  • Ability to take vital signs

  • Skill in identifying and resolving problems

  • Ability to use good reasoning and judgment and react calmly in emergency situations

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, co-workers and vendors

  • Ability to read, write and communicate effectively with oral and written correspondence

  • Proficiency in the operation of a computer and other office equipment


  • High school diploma, or equivalent

  • Graduate of technical school MA program or Associate Degree MA program

  • Entry level up to two years of experience

Constantly required to talk or hear. Frequently required to stand, walk, and sit; may sit for long durations of time. Frequent use of hands, fingers and arms. Occasionally needs to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Occasionally lift up to 20 pounds. Constantly required to see; review written material, computer screens & phones with the ability to adjust focus.




Must be able to effectively communicate with employees, physicians, patients and vendors in a professional manner via telephone, electronically, and person-to-person; listening and exchanging accurate information, responding to questions, and conveying information. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, procedure manuals, and financial data. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
